PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System)is a hospital image information system to deal with the capture, transmission, storage, display and management of medical images. It has been the main content of hospital digitalization Construction. Aiming at the discommodity of PACS in doctors'daily clinical diagnosis and treatment, this paper presents a design scheme of mobile PACS (MPACS) embedded system terminal based on ARM.To describe the basic theory of MPACS embedded system, this paper first introduces the concepts of PACS and embedded system. Then, a MPACS terminal hardware platform is designed with CPU of S3c2410 embedded processor which has the kernel of ARM9. The emphasis is put on the current interface of hardware platform and special interface of realizing network communication: Ethernet interface and CF interface. In addition, the software frame of MPACS terminal is discussed in details, and the software structure principle and realization of MPACS terminal is introduced from three parts: BSP (board support package) level, operating system level and application software level of MPACS terminal. Finally, the MPACS terminal prototype system is accomplished.The system is of good performances in applicability, expandability and can improve the level of clinician service remarkably.
