Embedded system has been used under many environments, which uses microprocessor as its core-component. But most of the systems are applied separately now. With the help of RS-232 (a kind of serial communication protocol) and other protocol, embedded system can form a network and communicate with each other. However, the disadvantage of this network is that the valid radius is too short, and cannot access the Internet. To overcome this problem, the Internet access technology was issued. How to help the embedded system, especially, with the core of 8/16 bits Microprocessor access the Internet become a new research interest. With the background mentioned above, when building a general embedded Internet access module, the paper chooses the most general chips and corresponding technology. Based on analyzing the common accessing technology, a new method put forward. The key of this new technology relies on the hardware and software design and its realization. The bottleneck of this design is the short of resource and low computing speed. So, in chapter 2,3 when describing the hardware frame, how to make use of every chip with high performance and how to make sure the network interface cooperate with microprocessor better are considered. In chapter 4,5, the small but high efficiency operating system μC/OS-Ⅱhas been embedded in the software, at the same time, before realizing the communication protocol, it has been analyzed and cut. In addition, during the design process of the accessing module, there are many other important details that should not be ignored, such as the sequential relationship between each chip, the design of a stable and anti-interference system, code optimizing and using variables and functions reasonable so that after compiling and linking the file will only occupies a little code and data memory. The successful design and realization of the general embedded Internet access system form a base for further research, and provide reference for other similar systems accessing the Internet.
