The Development Of Chinese News Report Styles According To Shen Newspaper From 1896 To 1915

Newspaper is one of the main ways in communication. Millions of valuable historical materials, which provide credible evidences of Chinese history for later generations, are spread and kept till now by newspapers. Different kinds of news styles in newspaper play an irreplaceable role as the carrier of these historical materials. They take current affairs on the newspapers by different manifestations and record modes, and show lots of lifestyles, wars and local customs and practices to readers.As the social production develops continually, people's life domain is wider and wider, and interpersonal relationship is closer and closer as well. People speed up their rhythm of life, broaden their vision, and deepen their dependence on information. Since people have different demands, newspapers reply them in different changes, which are the buds meaning the differentiation of newspaper styles. As a kind of newspaper styles, news report gradually segregates from the message, peels off the influence of classical literature at that time, and finally turns into an independent newspaper style after more and half a century.The master frame of thesis separates into four parts. The first part traces back to the headstream of news report. The characters of current news report are compared with Chinese classical literature to find out the features in it. The thesis points out that news writing in the early days when latter-day newspapers appear, is the transition style of news report. Typical news on latter-day newspapers, which is similar to news report, is also commented in the thesis.The second to forth parts are separated into three periods for study on basis of three forms of news report. Each part first briefly introduces the background of its period, the news style on Shen Newspaper and the fundamental situation of twice transformation. The characters of news report in different periods are discussed separately.The second part is about the period of Xin Wen Ji Shi from 1896 to 1904, which compares earlier news report with message, points out the obscure boundary between them, and discusses the characters of classical literature in news report by illustration.The third part is about the period of Ji Shi Tong Xun from 1905 to 1911, which discusses that news report is separated from message, so that new style comes into being. The new style has more detailed content and more kinds of earlier news report.The forth part is about the period of Jie Shi Xing Tong Xun. This is an important period that news report completely turns into an independent newspaper style. As the modernization of newspaper becomes clearer and clearer, the column of news report on newspaper comes out. Yinxiangpai Ji Shi characterized by Huang Yuansheng will be a subject to discuss in this part.Two inspirations are drawn from the collection and investigation of the news report's development on Shen Newspaper from 1896 to 1915. First, the development of news report is a successive course. It is based on Chinese classical literature.
