Reading, as an important method of acquiring knowledge, plays an important role in human history and social progress. The development of digital book and Internet technology have changed people's reading habits, and promoted the development of e-books and online reading.The National Eleventh Five-Year Plan appoints that we should promote the development and prosperity of culture and the online reading will make great contribution to human culture.At present, there are different forms of online reading systems on Internet, but their services are targeted to a specific terminal, where different terminal needs different treatments. In order to read the same e-book in different terminals, users not only need to maintain two different formats of electronic documents, but also requires two different processes. With the rapid development of network technology and the popularity of various mobile terminals, the reading based on mobile devices such as cell phones, e-reader, tablet PC will become more and more popular, therefore design and implement of across-terminal online reading has become more and more urgent.This subject comes from the cooperation project with the Institute of Digital Publishing, Founder R&D Center. Based on analysis of several existing document format standards and the research of a new generation of documentl standard CEBX, this paper mainly completes the following work:(1) Introduces the purpose and significance of the implementation of online reading, analyzes the existing technology of implementing online reading,describes the working principle and work flow of the system,introduce and analyze the related technology used on the system.(2) Using the related features of CEBX document technology and the corresponding development kit, and designes and implements a prototype system for online reading across the terminal. (3) In order to reduce the server-side calculation pressure and the pressure of the network data transmission, the Silverlight technology is introduced to achieve drawing redirection.(4) Shows the effect of the system implementation, tests and analyzes the performance of the system by using Loadrunner tool.
