The frequency hopping system has a wide application in military communication and mobile communication because of the strong anti-jamming and anti-intercept. The key to improve the performance of frequency hopping system is to improve the frequency hopping rate and bandwidth of the frequency hopping transceiver. With the development of software defined radio technology, it's more and more widely used in applications. It becomes a popular research to apply the software defined radio technology to frequency hopping system to improve the performance and flexibility.This paper studied the key technologies of the frequency-hopping system and the application of software defined radio to the frequency-hopping system. Firstly, the key technologies of frequency-hopping system and software defined radio were introduced, and then gave the design specifications of the frequency-hopping system. The system used high-speed ADC, DAC, FPGA and DSP to design a common hardware platform of frequency hopping transceiver based on software defined radio technology. The baseband and IF algorithms of the system were completed through MATLAB simulation and FPGA implementation. Altera's Cycloneâ…¢family FPGA was used in the system to achieve the features include:MSK modulation, pulse shaping, digital up conversion, frequency hopping, frequency hopping synchronization, digital down conversion, MSK demodulation, despreading, the MCBSP interface between FPGA and DSP, and the 800MSPS LVDS interface between FPGA and DAC. Finally, The frequency-hopping transceiver was fully tested and the results validated that the application of software defined radio technology to the frequency hopping transceiver had superiority. The innovation of this paper is the realization of high-speed and broadband frequency-hopping transceiver based on the common hardware platform of software defined radio technology.
