Shaft parts is an important parts constituted machines in mechanic industy, as continuously raising of machining quality, it requested a better testing and measurement for shaft parts. However, the current price of some large online testing system abroad is very high, and medium enterprises can not offer them. There is no low-cost online measurement system aiming at the bending deformation of slender shaft parts interiorly. In order to raise productivity, control the machining quality, minimize the rate of scrap, a design of online testing for the bending deformation of slender shaft parts is proposed based on aforementioned research.A design of bending deformation detection on-line is advanced in this paper based on discussing the problems encountered during processing of slender shaft, analyzing the reason of distortion, and then the detection principle, the overall architecture of detection system, and lighting, image acquisition and other issues were discussed. The system process is: First, area array CCD camera will be collected two-dimensional image information of the slender shaft workpiece, which are transferred to memory or stored on the hard disk under the specified directory in computer by image acquisition card. Commercial image-processing software Halcon is used in this paper. Workflow of images process as follows: reading the images, according to the flow of image mosaics and correlation algorithm, we can get the integrated image by images mosaicing technology after preprocessing such as image correction, gray scale processing, filtering, denoising, image smoothing, etc. Then the algorithm of edge detection, sub-pixel edge detection, contour extraction, curves fitting, measurement, etc. were discussed. Lastly, I program to calculate maximum deformation and its location of the shaft workpiece by Halcon operator, and the final test results are required.Experimental results show that the precision of detection system can achieve micron-level precision, the processing time can meet the requirements of online real-time detection. Moreover, the system is of simple structure, good stableness, high efficiency, super expansibility, and it basically solved all the disadvantages of traditional methods. Therefore, it break a new path for on-line non-contact detection of the shaft parts. Research results have great value in engineering applications and enormous economic benefits.
