The Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology has become a hot research topic in wireless communication field. As a crucial component of the UWB system, the UWB antenna affects performance of the system significantly. The aim of the thesis is to design the antennas that meet the requirements of ultra-wideband systems. Based on the research, two UWB antennas with dual band-notched are proposed.This dissertation is composed of two parts. In the first part, a survey on the ultra-wideband antenna is presented. The performance of major parameters, common structures, feed methods, band-notched characteristics and analysis methods are discussed. The second part is the design of the antennas, including two kinds of UWB antennas with dual band-notched performance. The configuration of the proposed antenna can provide an ultra wide bandwidth 3GHz~12GHz with satisfactory radiation properties. A good agreement is achieved between simulated and measured antenna characteristics.
