In the recent decades, the great progress in the technology of underwater acoustic communication makes it possible to construct underwater acoustic network. Underwater acoustic network is a new network technology, which is made by lots of underwater sensors and AUVs. It is widely used in collecting data, monitoring pollution, forecasting disaster and assisting navigation.Underwater acoustic commnunication is quite different from wireless communication. Sound wave attenuates a lot during the transmission in the sea. Meanwhile, it is influenced by noise, multi-path phenomena, and so on. The transmitting speed of sound in the sea is five times lower than that of electromagnetic wave in the air, and that will lead to high delay. Underwater nodes live on the energy supplied by the batteries they carried. The working environment makes it impossible to charge or change the batteries, so the energy saving is one of the key issues of the underwater network. This thesis researches the energy saving of the underwater network, focuses on the route protocol and changes the classical route protocol AODV. The result indicates that the changes can meet the expectation.First, finding process is modified. Vector limitation is aided, which is helpful for reducing the related node and don't influence the probability of successful finding.Second, repairing process is modified. The idea of"low start"is introduced to the route protocol which will"go back one hop each time"to modify the broken line. It will reduce the response time in case that the broken line can't be remedied.Third, managing process is modified. The function of"HELLO"message is enhanced, which can be used to optimize some non-optimal route. At last, this thesis simulates the given route protocol by VC++, and contrasts the changed protocol and AODV from the three modified aspect. The result indicates that the changes can meet the expectation.
