A Study On The Folk Drama Of The Yi People In

In the Shuangbai Town of Chuxiong State, Yunnan Province,there still exist three ancient performance of Yi nationality-Tiger Drama,Leopard Drama and Gong Drama which popularize respectively in three remote villages. While their formation of performance is simple and unadorned, these three performances consist sacrifice, dramas, songs dances, religion, and accordingly, rich cultural connotation. It provides very valuable samples for us to understand the original formation and later development of drama.This paper embodies the Tiger Drama, Leopard Drama and Gong Drama in the study of drama, and uses these three performing activities,which possess the characteristics of the original drama formation, as the object of the research. Through field study combined with the comparison of literature, the performance procedure and the formation features are stated and analyzed; in the light of myth, totemism, primitive belief and ecological environment, the causes of the original drama are explored.
