The Chinese ink wash drawing has a history of about one thousand years. One of the most challenging work in the computer art research field is to simulate the traditional paint media and tools. The representation of normal Chinese painting is different from that of Chinese landscape painting, which is of complicated brushwork. The research on the graphical simulation of Chinese landscape painting is beneficial to the development of Chinese painting and computer art.The complex system is based on the result of the simulation of Chinese ink wash drawing, and first it is analyzed scientifically, then both the brush ink and the sculpt of landscape painting are deeply analyzed. According to the characters of Chinese landscape and the deficiency of simulant system,a Chinese landscape generating algorithm is presented here, which is on the basis of texture synthesis. First, it draws the figure of mountains and rocks,and then the inner part of the figure are rendered by texture. During the course of rendering, based on the complex effects and the self-similar character of the wrinkled-texture, the technology of texture synthesis in the field of computer graphics and computer vision is used here. A target image is introduced to realize the interactive user control. The experiment results indicate that this algorithm generates Chinese landscape paintings successfully.In addition, we do an elementary research on the simulation of Chinese ink wash drawings with non-photorealistic rendering, A method based on image analogies is brought forward.
