As an important method for middle or long distance wireless communication,HF communication plays important role in morden communication. HF channel's characteristic is the focus that people reseach and explore the HF communication. HF channel is a rapid time variation and dispersion channel, It has three selective fading of time, frequency, space. Fading seems to be the most serious distortion factor that degrades the communication performance over HF channels.In Short-Wave communication engineering, people need test the performance of the HF communication equipment. But it takes much time and it is impossible having the same tested condition in HF actual channel environment. In addition, it is difficult to change channel parameters by man-made. From this basis, the accuracy of simulators used for this purpose becomes increasingly crucial.This paper analysis and discuss the structures and the algorithms of the Watterson Model, and simulate the characteristics of HF channels. Through this simulator, people can change the HF channel parameters. The HF channel simulator is based on TMS320VC5509 hardware platform family DSP, and the results are presented. This HF simulator is a very valuable tool for modem and channel estimation designers. Finally, Here propose an adaptive equalizer in data communication over HF radio channels.This paper is devided six chapters. The first chapter is prefaces that introduced relative research of the thesis. The second chapter analysises the fundamental theory of the channel simulator and provides partition of function module,implemental design of HF channel model. The third chapter shows fundamental theory of channel model. The fourth chapter introduces the function modules and interfaces, software development kit, hardware structure of digital processor DSP. The fifth chapter provide the analysised result of tested signal. The chapter 4,5 is the core of this paper. Last chapter is the summarization of the work that we have done and give the advice of the system improving.
