Nowadays, it is important to get an application that has simple process, lower cost, higher efficiency and at same time has higher expansibility, usability and security. Client/Server structure has played an important role in application of LAN in 1990's. Along with the development of Intranet/Internet and other network technology, the structure would not satisfied by enterprise application because of more and more user and complicated business rule.Windows DNA is a development platform of Microsoft based on N-tier distributed application. It integrated different technologies of distributed calculation environment into a uniform and powerful model. COM+ is realized in the middle-tier of Windows DNA. COM+ integrate COM/DCOM, MTS technology and provide universal solution of middle-tier's service. It makes programmer can pay more attention in programming business rule.Because of COM+ inherited COM/DCOM, MTS characteristics, this paper gives a detailed analysis to the criterion and realism of COM. Researching some characteristics of COM. While inherits COM/DCOM, MTS characteristics, COM+ makes many progresses. This paper research the different between COM+ thread model and COM/DCOM thread model, the different of communication method in COM+, COM, DCOM and MTS, and then point out COM+ has better efficiency than MTS. This paper emphatically research services in middle-tier provided by COM+, such as transaction manage, queued components, event model, role-based security, load balance, in-memory database.Because of client/server structure has many disadvantages in security, maintenance and expansibility, this paper gives out a method of distributed N-tier structure based on COM+ to realize educational administration system of our university. According to real condition of our university, this paper integrating COM+ event service and queued components into an event model which has function of asynchronous transmission. It service well on message delivery and asynchronous transmission between anterior business and posterior business.While design business objects, this paper deeply research on how to make use of middle-tier services effectively provided by COM+ so as to get more powerful solution in this system and do profitable practice on improving development efficiency and software quality.
