The Design And Development Of Educational Administrative System On INTRANET

With the rapid development of informational construction in recent years, the problem of information standardization is increasingly standing out in our country. On the one hand, the scope of information processing in educational management keeps booming, covering schools as well as education administrative departments at various levels. On the other hand, the fields of practical use of information processing also keep extending dramatically. While at the same time, new problems also keep emerging constantly. For one instance, some basic units have established incompatible informational system to meet the needs of various requirements from different departments. The consequence is that information resources could hardly be exchanged or shared. Another example is, concerning the information processing of educational management, the software in the market are usually incompatible, not conforming to established standards. What's more, the information resources which are based on the Net can hardly be shared due to lack of uniformed standards. To overcome these problems, the Ministry of Education started to establish "Standards for Information Processing in Education Administration" in 1999. The first part of the standards, i.e., the "information standards for educational administration", came out and came into force in September 2002.To keep up with the new situation under the above mentioned new standards, the author of this paper designed and developed the "System for educational administration, based on the Internet", which falls into four parts:The first part is an overview, expounding chiefly the developing background, designing principle as well as the developing plan.The second part is an analysis of the systematic requirement, aiming at deriving functional modules of the system from it. It also performs logical structure design for the database of the system. Meanwhile, it explains on developing environments and tools of the system.The third part concerns the completion of the system. Relative developing tasks have made use of database tools ACCESS as well as front platform developing tool VISUAL BASIC.The fourth part deals with the test and application of the system.In order to expound the crucial technological problems, the author has used, in the course of design and development of this system, various illustrations, technological process charts, and E-R diagrams, which were based on some general theories of system design and database design.This design is just a small system for educational administration. It was designed and developed when the "Standards for Information Processing of Educational administration" first came into force. So there is some points in practice.
