Research And Implementation Of Teaching Whiteboard In Distance Education System

With the increased availability of computer network as well as the development of network technology,distance education based on cooperative enviroment has become the new highlight of the distance education technology.As one of the most important applications of computer supported cooperative work(CSCW) , the Internet-based synchronized system of electronic whiteboard has been increasingly demonstrating its advantage over the non-synchronized distance education system.In a synchronized electronic whiteboard system,the teachers will be able to carry out their courses in a very easy way,like what they have done in a conventional classroom enviroment. The system relieves the teachers from the endless training of sophisticated coursework making skills, enhances the interaction activities between the teachers and students and strengthens the students administration.So it has a great potential of being widely used in campus network system.In order to implement an electronic whiteboard system,the thesis introduces the theory of computer supported cooperative work(CSCW) and discusses key knowledge of CSCW ,which includes CSCW system structure,cluster cooperative work model,cooperative control scheme and key communication technology of clusters.The thesis gives an in-depth analysis of the theory and characterics of electronic whiteboard system,which is a typical application of CSCW,and suggests a method of implementing the system using Java.On the basis of theoretical research,the thesis presents a set of structure models and implements a internet-based electronic whiteboard system which supports simple cooperative work.Based on cient/server model,the system contains student computer,teacher computer and server computer,and can be browsed under the browser enviroment.The system provides a common platform shared by both students and teachers,and has great potental of expansion.
