Study On Application Of XML In Data Integration

Data integration has a wide range application. But, there exists all kinds of conflicts of structural and semantic in data. The goal of data integration is to remove these conflicts. How to describe and remove these conflicts conveniently is very important to data integration.XML can be used for the integration of different data, for the capacity of describing structural and semantic. This paper use XML for the integration of relational data.Research basic methods of data integration, analyze and explore possibility of XML in data integration, by the analyzing of XML technology and relational data. The main works are as follows:(1) Use XML as a middle schema in data integration. By describing structural and semantic of relational table in a single XML document, resolve the problems of poor capability of a relational table in the case of describing semantic and structure information.(2) DTD and XML SCHEMA can describes some structural and semantic information of a XML document, which is transformed from a relational table, but it has some limits in describing complex structural and semantic information. To overcome this shortage, a special XML document is defined to describe structural and semantic information of relational table.(3) Data and structure are divided into two different XML documents. While integrating, matchs structure in the first, and then integrates data.(4) Target table is also described by a XML document, thus make a uniform mode and a easy way in data integration by the means of integrating data between two XML documents.(5) Some special semantic nodes are defined to enhance XML's capability of describing structural and semantic information. Some systems are lack of data transformation ability, so data transformation algorithms are devised to transform data from source XML document to target (6) Some operations of XML documents in data integration are defined.(7) All metadata of data integration is described by XML, thus make a more opening and alternating system.The main conclusions are :XML has a strong capacity of describing structural andsemantic information; It can describe a lot of information of structural and semantic, by adding attributes into elements of XML document; It can make data integration more simple and convenient, and fit for all kinds of application, by the using of XML as the middle schema in data integration; XML has a better capacity of describing structure, thus make integration between heterogeneous tables conveniently; Data integration course has a better expansibility with the use of XML...
