Nowdays, the major developing direction of Internet technology focuses on two fields; parallel distributed processing and mobile computing. As one of the primary functional technique on Internet mobile computing, the Mobile IP protocol that defined by IETF supports a network layer resolving method that allows mobile host to move transparently in networks. That is, mobile host can roam seamlessly from one network to another. This capability is one of the most important features for future personal communications. Mobile IP technology uses proxy nodes to capture the lP datagram which destined to roaming mobile host, and forwards these lP datagrams to the actual point where mobile host currently locates. So that, it can make promise that network communications of the roaming mobile host keep operating This thesis makes a deep research on system principles and implementing methods of Mobile lP technique. By analyzing the selected representative implementing system: the MIP project in National University of Singapore and the MIP system in Stanford University. and comparing the both system'sperformance, we summarize the software constructions anddeveloping detailsof Mobile IP implementing systems, andconfirm that the choice of implementing categories is importanti n deve I op ing process. Moreover, in the s imu I at ing network.env i ronment, we make an exper iment on the bas ic funct ions o+Mob i I e l P techn ique, and then con f i rm the operat ion mechan i sm.l n add it ion, we d iscuss the route eff ic iency and agentperformance of the Mob i le I P techn ique, and gi ve the progressidea about the two probIems. 0ne is to achieve routeopt imi zat ion by sett i ng up the Camun icat ion Agent (CA), andthe other is to extend agent to agent system for gett ing morerel iabi l itif.. and scalabi I ities. At Iast, consider ing thedeve lopment of the techni que in future, we br ie f I y introducethe next generat ion I nternet protoco I ---- I Pv6, and descr ibe howthe protocoI to support host mobi I ity. Furthermore we comparethe Mobi 1 e I Pv4 and' Mobi le IPv6, and draw some conc l us ions.
