Three experiments on the cuffing and rubbing properties of corn stalk have been conducted on a pendulum test-bed. The main item investigated in the experiments was energy consumption caused by cutting and rubbing stalk, and the stalk status after processing was also an item. The first experiment was a multifactor orthogonal test. Suitable slip cutting angle and clearance between movable blade and stationary blade have been found. To testify the conclusion got from the first experiment, the second test studied on the effect of the slip cutting angle on the items. It was a single factor test. The last tested how the characteristics of the stalk itself affect the items. A virtual instrumentation to measure energy consumption was developed by the software development platform called Lab Windows/C VI. The results got from above experiments provided the guide in theory and referential data for further designing cuffing and rubbing machine, at the same time, more clues and test ways for further experiment research have been indicated.
