As we all know, English writing reflects learners'comprehensive abilities of thinking, understanding and linguistic applying. With the development of the society, English writing is becoming more and more important in all kinds of exams and jobs. But it is still rather difficult to improve students'writing. This paper tries to explore error sources in senior high school students'English writings and gives some pedagogical implication to English teaching at senior high school.On the base of contrastive analysis theory and error analysis theory, the researcher makes a data analysis on 52 students'English writing of Jilin Province Senior High School in Changchun, categorizes 155 errors in their English writing which are required finishing in the same period and with the same topic, analyzes and discusses the reason for those errors.The analysis indicates that interlingual and intralingual errors are two major types. And interlingual error refers to the error due to transferring rules from mother tongue, including linguistic transfer and cultural. While intralingual error is caused by overgeneralization, ignorance of rule restrictions, incomplete application of rules, false concept hypothesized, induced factors and lack of practice.Following the analysis and discussion, relevant error correction methods and some pedagogical suggestions are put forward.Hopefully, the study will be helpful to both language teachers and language learners in senior high schools.
