Freedom being the people's eternal pursuit, however, usually remains lost in reality. All of us looking forward to or yearning for the freedom, whereas, have no capability to come to agreement how we can reach it. Because the history of the human being since the emerging of the human being's self-consciousness is the history of human being's seeking freedom, the connotation of freedom keeps altering with the development of society and knowledge. Various persons own various senses of liberty although there being only one concept of freedom, thus alternative paths to freedom are been chosen. In the discussions which one is the best choice to the freedom, Most of people agree that the education is one of the best choices to it. However, the education in our reality is beset with difficulties to bring the bright horizon in front of us. As the freedom is related to authority, the teacher's authority is concerned with the student's freedom. This dissertation mainly consists of five chapters as follows:Chapter one starts with the thinking of the purpose of education where the viewpoints that freedom being the constant pursuit of education is naturally exposed, and the topic of this dissertation, the intergrowth of teacher's authority and student's liberty in the field, comes out as well.Chapters two mainly proceeds to summarize the previous literature about teacher's authority, discriminate and explain the definitions, such as authority, teacher's authorities and so forth, and then see through the sorting and study approaches of the previous research of teacher authorities.Chapter three states the thoughts of alienation at first and examines closely, self-examine, and criticize the alienation phenomenon of nowdays living world of education with the theory of alienation, as the result of that, contemporary situation of the teacher's authority and student's freedom under the education background of alienation is pointed out and the problem of the study is in process of reconsidering the rationality of teacher's authority and the yearning for student's freedom. Chapter four includes the following contents: the existing role of teacher's authority is expounded, and then the necessity of it is made a detailed inquiry about rationally from the angle of the teaching and studying approaches, thoughts of knowledge and values, at last the student's freedom is discussed and emphasized with its significance and value to students'growth.Chapter five makes it clear that there is intergrowth rather than distinctive conflict between teacher's authority and student's liberty and some advices how both of them in the field of education can generate in the integrated or coexisted circumstance is offered as well.
