The negative emotion is a basic subjective experience with unpleasant and depressed mood. It often brings negative psychological experience to human, and it is a major factor that affects health.This paper takes the impoverished university students as the research object. Based on the analysis of documents, we use the questionnaires, PANAS scale and ASLEC scale to investigate the impoverished university student's negative emotions and the pertinent factors. This paper discusses the impoverished university student's negative emotions as well as the differences of different impoverished university student's negative emotions in each sub- dimension, and discusses the impact of life events over the impoverished university student's negative emotions, in order to cause concerns among society for their mental health, and provide a reference to the education of our college student's mental health. For data, some standard research methods are employed. The research shows that:(1) The impoverished university students' negative emotions are significantly higher than the non-impoverished university students', especially on "guilty" and "scared" factors.(2) Compared to the non-impoverished university students, the impoverished university students receives more influence from life event, and they have remarkable differences in the interpersonal relationship and the study pressure.(3) The impoverished university students of different sex, grade, source, the only child family and the non-only child family, the single-parent family and the non-single-parent family, show a significant difference on the negative emotions.(4) The impoverished university students of different life events show different negative emotions, those who have high mark experiences more negative emotions than those who have low mark.(5) The data analysis indicates that the impoverished university students' emotions and life events are significantly correlated, and the life events seriously affect the impoverished university students' emotions.On this basis, this paper concluded that the powerful combination of individuals, schools and society should be established to enable the development of an integrated system for the emotional health of the impoverished university students, to overcome their emotional problems, so as to protect the development of the impoverished university student's physical and mental health.
