Where there are human beings, there are languages, for language is the key tool in communication. Foreign language study is the basic requirement in the fundamental education in our country. Since the late of the 20th century when it stepped into information age, information has showed its great influence in lots of fields. Foreign language, especially English has been regarded as an important means in such society full of fierce competition. High requirement in foreign language ability demands high requirement in foreign language teaching.Reading comprehension is one of the four basic skills in language learning, that is listening, speaking, reading and writing. Skills can be gained by training. However, nowadays, actually, reading comprehension teaching still pays too much attention to vocabulary and grammar, while reading comprehension has lack of being trained. Why is it so? One reason is that the nature of reading is misunderstood or even not understood. Comprehension does not only mean the literal comprehension, but also the inferential and creative comprehensions. The literal comprehension is the first basic requirement of comprehension. The second is the inferential comprehension and the third is the creative comprehension. The degree of comprehension skill requirement ascends from the first to the last. The problem is that in many cases reading comprehension teaching hangs around the layer of the literal comprehension, so the other two layers are ignored.Reading process is naturally the communication between the author and the reader basing on the text. There are three attitudes concerning the text comprehension: author-center, text-center, reader-center. The author expresses himself through writing while the reader understands the author through reading. The text is the only medium through which the communication between the author and the reader can be achieved, for both the author and the reader obey some agreements on the text. Narratology takes text-interpretation and text-writing-effect into its consideration. Narratology opens a new window for us to solve the problem. As a reader, if he can learn about the meaning implied in the writing skills, no one can doubt the meaning not only in the text but in theauthor's mind can be interpreted.Point of View is a terrri in Narratology. There are many kinds of classifications. Considering the reality in the senior English teaching, this thesis analyzes texts in two aspects. One is Person, the other is Point of View. So in this thesis Point of View has a different meaning. Narration analysis follows the steps: first, identify Person in the text; second, through analyzing some linguistic features, form a virtual world in mind, then appreciate the text through assessing the writing skills, and infer the writing purpose / standpoint / mood.The present comprehension teaching almost deals with vocabulary and grammar which can effectively help achieve the literal comprehension. In order to enhance students' comprehension ability, especially the inferential and the creative comprehensions, we can add the narration analysis which follows the presently-adopted teaching steps.Above assumption is put into a teaching experiment carried on by the author. The experiment result proves the assumption. What's more, the experiment shows narration analysis can arouse students' interest in reading, to a certain extent.This study adopts a new method to foster senior students' reading comprehension ability. The author hopes to discuss more with peers.
