Women's question would always be a vital issue to the social development. Mao Zedong was a direct promoter and leader of the Chinese women's liberation movement. In the period of Chinese revoluntion and socialist constrction, Mao's theory on women's emancipation made great help for Chinese women's movement and dramatically changed Chinese female population's lives and status.The paper first fully studies the historic background and developing trend of Mao's thoughts of women's emancipation, and then go to main content of the theory, such as the origin of the enslavement against women, women's status and roles, the rights of women, the approaches of women's emancipation, the protracted and difficult of women's liberation, and the main social force and leading power of the movement. Furthermore, the paper not only analysis the main results and basic experience of women's emancipation movement leading by Mao, points out its several features and historic shortcomings, but also studies its creativity and development on women's liberation theory during Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zeming period.It is considered that Mao's thoughts of women's emancipation is a product combining Maxist theory on women's liberation with Chinese reality, and an ideological weapon and a guiding thought with which CCP lead women's liberation movement. The research is of vital theoretical significance and realistic importance for women's liberation movement today to be guided by Maxist theory on women's liberation and leaded by CCP.
