The Cluster Analysis Of Different Social Development Levels In He'nan Province

Since China's reform and opening up, this country and each province saw a different development speed. Therefore, the development gap among different areas become wider and wider. How to ensure "rich people help poor" and achieve "all rich" is on the top agenda in all levels of government. However, this issue can't be resolved until we have a well understanding about current development situation. This paper is devoted to understanding the development of He'nan province by the means of cluster analysis which is one part of multivariate statistics.Due to different natural resources and environments, there is a clear development gap among different parts within He'nan province. This paper adopts 8 major variables which could indicate economic development stage and uses AHP method to get 8 weights for corresponding variables. Then I chose cluster analysis to differentiate development stages in different areas. The conclusion is that the east part of He'nan is pretty behind the west part of He'nan in development. Government should pay more attention to east part. In addition, this method of analysis could be easily applied to other provinces and autonomous regions.
