Art criticism plays a very important role in art study and development. In this thesis, by studying on four aspects of art criticism including its stance, standards, methods and mode, I elaborate the shifts of Chinese contemporary art criticism in two time spans, from the "85 New Wave Art" to "89 Modernism Exhibition" and since the early 1990s until now. By discussing the change of critical stance from the "clarity" to "ambiguity", the development of critical standards from the "mainstream" to "diversity", the gradation of critical methods from the "singularity" to "integration" and the conversion of critical mode from the "juxtaposition" to "complementation", I systematically comb and summary the development of Chinese contemporary art criticism. Then I further analyze the specific reasons of these changes, resultant impacts, problems in existence and related suggestions to solve the problems.
