Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of HER2 in gastric carcinoma. Method:The expression of HER2 in the tumor tissue from 90 patients with gastric carcinoma was examined by immunohistochemically methond. The relationship between HER2 expression and the clinical pathologic parmeters was analyzed. Result:(1) The positive rates of HER2 in gastric carcinoma was14.4%(13/90). (2) The expression of HER2 was more frequently detected in the age≥65 than in the age <65 . The expression of HER2 was more frequently detected in the low differentiation than in the high differentiation. The expression of HER2 was more frequently detected in theⅢandⅣstage than in the I andⅡstage. The expression of HER2 was more frequently detected in the gastric carcinoma with regional lymph metastasis than without regional lymph metastasis. The expression of HER2 was more frequently detected in gastric cancer with carcinoma diameter≥5 cm than that with carcinoma diameter<5cm.So the expression of HER2 was significantly correlated with the clinicopathological factors such as diameter, differentiation, stage, and regional lymph metastasis. Conclusion:HER2 may play important roles in development of gastric carcinoma.
