Objective:Through clinical research, observing the change of treating type 2 diabetes with depression by Supplemented Danzhi Xiaoyao San on depression degree, glycemic level and treatment compliance, to investigate the effects of coursing the liver and resolving depression on the quality of lifeMethods:1.Clinical dataSixty two patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with depression, belonged to traditional Chinese medicine syndrome of liver depression, spleen vacuity and disquieted heart spirit, came from Hubei province Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, were randomized into treating group (n=31) and control group (n=31) simultaneously.2.TreatmentThe two groups were all treated with diabetes education,diat control, appropriate exercise and hypoglycemic drugs. The treating group was given traditional Chinese drugs of coursing the liver and resolving depression besides these treatments (Supplemented Danzhi Xiaoyao San). The total cure was 12 weeks. 3.Clinical ObservationBefore and after treatment, we should measure the score of Hamilton Depression Scale and the diabetic life quality scale separately, and we should observe the change of treating compliance on diabetic. At the same time, fasting plasma glucose, plasma glucose after meal for 2 hour (2hPG) and glycolated hemoglobin (HbA1c) should be measured in laboratory. And then, we must compare the treatment effect of the two groups4.safety inspectionGeneral situation:body temperature, heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, etc.; laboratory tests:blood, urine, feces test, liver and renal function (BUN,Cr,ALT,AST,GGT), electrocardiogram.Results:1. antidepressive and traditional Chinese medicine syndromes analysisThe therapeutic effective rate of antidepressive and traditional Chinese medicine syndromes was 87.10% and 90.32% in the treating group, depression degree improved obviously, and the difference was significant comparing with the control group (P<0.01). Another difference was also noted in the score of Hamilton Depression Scale in the treating group,21.34±3.47 before and15.45±3.52 after (P<0.01).2.life quality and treatment compliance analysisMany indicators of diabetic life quality scale were ascending in the treating group, including total evaluation, physiological function, psychological health, social function, treating condition, and the difference was significant comparing with treated before and the control group (P<0.01).Exercise frequency and time, number of medical visits, leak medication were descending, and the difference was significant (P<0.01).3. FPG,2hPG and HbA1c analysisFPG,2hPG and HbA1c were descending. All of these differences were significant on statistics comparing with this group treated before and the control group (P<0.01, P<0.05).Conclusion:Supplemented Danzhi Xiaoyao San could improve type 2 diabetes on the feeling of agitation, fatigue and lack of strength, sleeplessness, litter thought of food and drink etc. raise treatment compliance, improve quality of life, and be benefit for blood glucose controlling. coursing the liver and resolving depression is an available method to improve quality life of type 2 diabetes.
