| Objective :To investigate the incidence of vascular disease in the lower extremities (lower extremity vascular disease ,LEVD) and its related risk factors of patients with type 2 diabetes. To evaluate the applied value of Doppler Ultrasonic Examination in early diagnosis of the vascular disease in the lower extremities.Methods:146 Patients with type 2 diabetes in the First affiliated hospital of Shantou University Medical College from 2008 to 2010 were screened for lower extremity vascular disease (LEVD). The related risk factors for LEVD, including age, sex, the durations of diabetes, fasting blood glucose (FBG), postprandial blood glucose (PBG), blood pressure (BP), pulse pressure(PP), creatinine (Cr), blood uria nitrogen (BUN), uric acid (UA), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL),glycated hemogrobin A1c (HbA1c) and uric protein, were analyzed.Result:Doppler Ultrasonic examination showed that 85 patients (58.22%) had different degrees of vascular lesions in the lower limbs in 146 diabetic patients. Age(P<0.01),durations of diabetes(P<0.01),pulse pressure (P<0.05),total cholesterol(P<0.05)and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(P<0.01)were significantly higher in the diabetes with LEVD than in those without LEVD. Age(P<0.05)was significantly higher in male diabetic patients with LEVD than in those without LEVD. But Age(P<0.05),durations of diabetes(P<0.05),pulse pressure (P<0.05),total cholesterol(P<0.05), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(P<0.05) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(P<0.01) were significantly higher, but high density lipoprotein cholesterol(P<0.05)were significantly lower in female diabetic patients with LEVD than in those without LEVD. Age, durations of diabetes , pulse pressure and low density lipoprotein cholesterol were independent risk factors for the vascular disease in lower extremities. Conclusion:The incidence of vascular lesions in lower limbs was high in type 2 diabetes mellitus. There were many factors connected with it, for example, the age, durations of diabetes, pulse pressure, blood lipid, and so on. Many kinds of arterial disease could be early found by Doppler Ultrasonic Examination, which can judge the location and the severity of the lesions, in the same time, is the better non-invasive examination methods at the present time. |
