Objective: To explore the risk factors of gastric cancer in Xinjiang, and the differences between the Uygur group and the Han group, provide reference for the prevention of gastric cancer. Methods: A 1:2 case-control study was conducted. From Oct.2008 to Jan.2010, 120 the Uygur,Han gastric cancer patients from the affliated Toumour Hospital Xinjiang Medical University; and 240 the Uygur,Han healthy people were investigated. Cases and controls were requested must have lived in Xinjiang more than 10 years. The self-made questionnaire named《G-C life and health questionnaire》were used to collect data. Data were analyzed with Chi-square test, t test and the non-conditional Logistic regression. Results: (1) The results of single-variable analysis indicated that in the Han group, the history of gastric ulcer,history of gastric bleeding,alcohol consumption,spirits drinking,eating fast,diet unregularily,salty food,eating vegetable<200 g/d,fried food,pickle,big stress of work were positive association with gastric cancer(P<0.05). Wine drinking,drinking tea,green tea,eating fruit often,carrot,onion,milk,good relationship were negative associated with gastric cancer(P<0.05). (2) The results of single-variable analysis indicated that in the Uygur group, the history of gastritis,the history of gastric ulcer,history of cholecystitis/cholecystolithiasis,the history of family disease,smoking,eating fast,smoked food,baked food,bad emotion,big stress of work were positive association with gastric cancer(P<0.05). Eating fruit ofren,bean,onion,scallion,garlic,milk,sour milk,walnut,badamon satisfied to family were negative associated with gastric cancer(P<0.05). (3) The results of multi-variable analysis suggested that in the Han group, the history of gastric ulcer,history of gastric bleeding,spirits drinking,diet unregularily,eating vegetable<200 g/d,big stress of work were positive associated with gastric cancer(P<0.05). Drinking tea,eating fruit often were negative associated with gastric cancer(P<0.05). And in the Uygur group, the history of gastric ulcer,baked food,bad emotion were positive associated with gastric cancer(P<0.05). Milk,satisfied to family were negative associated with gastric cancer(P<0.05). Conclusion:The occurrence of gastric cancer in Xinjiang related to the synihetic action by history of digestive disease,diet,psychological factors and so on. There are some different risk factors of gastric cancer between the Uygur group and the Han group. We should adopt the comprehensive nature and the target-oriented measure for the prevention of the different groups'gastric cancer in Xinjiang.
