The Epidemiological Investigation Of The Prevalence Of Metabolic Syndrome In The General Adult Population Aged 35～74 Years In Xingan Residents' Committee Of Urumqi

Objectives Through investigated the prevalence of MS in aged of 35～74 years in Urumqi,China.To investigate and to provide estimates of the prevalence of the metabolic syndrome and its main components in the general adult population at the age of 35～74 years in Xingan Residents' Committee of Urumqi.Methods Data were gathered from baseline survery of metabolic disease and its co-morbodities in Xingan Residents' Committee of Urumqi in 2008.Totally 553 subjects(men 203,women 350)with complete laboratory data,including plasma glucose,lipid profile,blood pressure,serum insulin,were analyzed in this study.MS was diagnosed according to the definition proposed by IDF in 2005.Results⑴The age-standardized prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 35.48%,was 33.46% in men and 36.57% in women.The prevalence of women higher than the man(P﹤0.01). Increased in men aged over 45 years and in women aged over 55 years,and among subjects aged 55～64 years the prevalence of MS was the highest.⑵The common manifestation of MS was abdominal obesity plus dyslipidemia plus IGR,with or without hypertention.Conclusion High prevalence of metablic syndrome and its related diseases among Chinese aged were observed in Urumqi.Clustering of MS components was common.
