Down's Syndrome, as a genetic disorder, is very common in the children with mental retardation. Many children with Down syndrome are mediate or severe mentally retarded children. Their parents often fell more stressful comparing to parents with common children. And they often have poor strategies in parenting. They need some easy and effective management skill.In the current research, three parts of studies are included. First, interview and observe methods were used to investigate the parenting behavior. The results suggested that parents prefer to control the child of Down's Syndrome and not always obey the regulation they need. Child often displays noncompliance,and show less initiative。In the second part and third part, parents and child take part in the interventions. In every part, parent learn strategies fist, then practice these strategies in game and in common situations. Between the game and situation, parent have time to review the record. In the second part, as Child-Directed Interaction, parent will learn praise,reflect,imitate,describe,enthusiasm, and avoid to use command,question,criticism. After intervention in this part, parents us these positive strategies. In the third part, as Parent-Directed Interaction, parent will learn how to use common,introduce,worming,punish. After this part, when child did not obey the commands, patents can act consistently. The rate of noncompliance is cut down.As the result, gender,cutler,traits of child,strategies parents learn affect the parenting behavior. At the end of this essay, there researcher puts forward some suggestions:parents need intervention, and the intervention should be specific instead of be abstract. |
