| [Object]To assess the effect of a new kind of eye-using behaviroal intervention on elementary school students'eye-using behavior and also on the outcome of eyesight development.[method]The way of cluster sampling is used to choose intervention group and control group.5 elementary schools in Xuihui District and 5 elementary schools in Changning District are chosen,Ones in Xuhui are for intervention group,while ones in Changning are for control group.For students in intervention group,an intervention of one-month eye-using behavior education is intensivly given,Plus one-year moderate education.A 1.5-year follow up of the students'eye-using behavior and eyesight outcome is performed for both groups.[Outcome]1:Differences in behavior of eye-relaxing,eye-using distance,continuous eye-using,gesture while reading and writing,gesture of holding pens are find between normal-eyesight students and poor-eyesight students,differences are alos find between the upmentioned two groups in time spent on watching tv, playing computer and portable game systems,as well as on outdoor sports.Result of logistic regression shows that protective factor of poor-vision include behavior of eye-using distance,continuous eye-using,frequency of outdoor sports, time spent on watching tv,playing computer and portable game systems,and time spent on training of music,painting,handwriting,while time spent on reading music texts is a hazardous factor.2:Data show girls have better eye-using behavior than boys,these behaviors include eye-relaxing,continuous eye-using,diet habits,eye-relaxing exercise,gestures of holding pens.Girls also tend to spend more time on reading music text and attending training on music,handwriting and painting.3:Differences in eye-using behavior are found among grades.higher-grade students have worse behavior of selecting enviroment for reading,continuous eye-using and gesture while reading and writing, but they have better eye-relaxing behaviors.4:Our intervention showed some positive effect on eye-using distance,gesture of holding pens, taking into account the initial behavior while the intervention started.However our intervention failed to change the situation of more time been spent on reading music text and attending additional training on course of chinaese,english and math by students of Xuhui District.[Conclusion]1:Improving students'eyeusing behavior,reducing their study pressure,letting them having moderate time for entertainment and outdoor sports may have a positive effect on reducing high rate of low vision in students of elementary schools.2:Although girls have better behaviors than boys,they still have higher rate of poor-sight while they enter high grade,this may indicate that sex in itself have a impact on the development of myopia.Girls spend more time on reading music text,attending training on music,handwriting and paiting,both of which involve moderate to high intensity near eye-using,thus special are should be given to this apsect in future intervention.3.As certain trends of behavior changing show when students move to high grades,the emphasis of intervention should be different.Those behavior tend to turn bad should be focused,such as selecting reading enviromen,continuous eye-using,gesture while reading and writing, especially continuous eye-using,gesture while reading and writing, because these two are found to have a positive effect on myopia development.4:Our intervention showed postive effects on behavior of eye-using behavior and gestures of holding pens in grade 1 students.No effect was found in others behaviors,this may due to the following reasons,(1)the control group have also taken some actions on some of these behaviors,(2)we only appraised 1-year effect of the intervention,while some behavior take time to change,(3)our intervention is not good enough to change thest behaviors,those way of intervention should be tried. more time are spent on reading music text and attending additional training on course of chinaese,english and math by students of Xuhui District after intervention,this may because of the students of XuHui district have high learning pressure, which is the real fact and may need a tremendouslly potent interventiong before it can be changed.5:It is possible to make a different with regarding to reducing myopia rate with the fact that time-spinding style does not affect development of myopia much,but to generate better effects,in future interventions we should use skills to strength response,reduce the effect of pause by stimulating technology and through ways of peer educations. |
