Objective:Detect the circulating tumor cells(CTC) in peripheral blood samples of patients with HCC.To evaluate the clinical significance of CTC in peripheral blood in patients with HCC.Method:Circulating tumor cells were enumerated after immunomagnetic beads coated EpCAM antibody and immunostaining with anti-EpCAM in 52 patients with HCC,10 case of no tumor cirrhosis hepatocirrhosis and 10 cases of health control.Result:CTC were found in the blood of 52 patients with HCC. But CTC were not found in the blood of the healthy volunteers. The CTC can be divided into two types of big CTC and small CTC with the size of the cells. The number of CTC, small CTC and positive rate of big CTC of the patients with HCC can be reduced by surgical resection and TACE.But treatment of symptomatic support can't work like that. The positive rate of the big CTC is related with the size of the tumor, with whether the tumor is single or multiple, with the level of the TBIL, with the PVTT and with the stage of the patients with HCC. The number of CTC and the number of small CTC are related with the size of the tumor, with whether the tumor is single or multiple, with the level of the TBIL, with the PVTT and with the stage of the patients with HCC. There is no significant association between the positive rate of big CTC with AFP serum level. There is no significant association between the number of CTC and AFP serum level. And there is no significant association between the number of small CTC and AFP serum level.Conclusions:1. CTC can be detective in the blood of patients with HCC by using immune magnetic beads joint ICC detection with EpCAM tumor markers.2. The number of CTC, small CTC and positive rate of big CTC of the patients with HCC can be reduced by surgical resection and TACE3. With the development of tumors, the number of CTC increases.
