| Objective:To investigate the mechanism of the effect of Xin shang xu duan tang(XSXDT) on the osseointegration of dental implants by observing the expression of BMP-2 around the interface of bone and dental implants.Methods:16 male rabbits weighted about 3Kgs were selected for this study. Dental implants were implanted into both sides of the ilium of the rabbits. After the implantation surgery, half of them (8 rabbits) rabbits were ingested with XSXDT qd for 2 weeks, others were ingested with 0.9%NaCl as control. The samples of the rabbits were collected 2,4,8, and 12 weeks after implantation. The samples of ilium with implants were harvested 2, 4,8and 12 weeks after implantation. Then each sample was observed by the way of histology and the expression of the BMP-2 at the interface of the bone and implants was detected by immunohistochemistry. The expression of BMP-2 was analyzed both by calculating the ratio of the positive cells. The results are analyzed by the statistical software spss 16.0.Results:All the implants connected firmly with the bone surrounding. No loosen or dropped sample was found.HE observation showed that, there were more intensive both blood vessels and newly formed osteoblasts in the samples of the experiment group than in those of the control in the same period of time. And bone trabeculas were formed earlier and stronger in the experiment group than the control.Immunohistochemistry observation revealed that, in the experiment group, the expression of BMP-2 were significantly higher than that in the controlled group at the period of 2 and 4 weeks (p<0.01). however there was no significant difference between the groups at the period of 8 and 12 weeks (p>0.05).Conculsion:XSXDT can promote the expression of BMP-2 after implantation surgery therefore might improve the osseointegration of dental implants. |
