| Objective To realize the interest, function, purpose and current situation of medical undergraduate student to be engaged in scientific research, in order to provide the reference to making research training programs for them.Methods Using self-designed questionnaire for anonymous surveys, 2742 college students were investigated with the method of cluster random sampling. The survey contents included the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents, scientific research diathesis, the status of participation in scientific research in early phase and so on. We set up the database using EpiData3.1 after checking and coding questionnaires. The data was analyzed using SPSS 12.0.Results A total of 2476 questionnaires of 2742 students were collected, the response rate was 90.3%. The results showed that 1264 (51.0%) undergraduates were interested in specialty studied and 1444 (58.3%) undergraduates were interested in scientific research; 2207 students would upgrade their own ability and achieve their own values when asked the purpose of participating in scientific research; 2211(89.3%) respondents were not engaged in scientific research undertaken by teachers or doctors; 1942(78.4%)respondents were willing to take part in extracurricular scientific research activity. On how to solve the problem, 63 (55.3%) respondents answered asking the teacher help among114 respondents. 969(39.1%) respondents thought junior year as the best time to contact scientific research.Conclusions Medical undergraduates were lack of the opportunity of engaging in scientific research. It should take various measures to strengthen the scientific research training for medical students. |
