Clinical Research On Depression Of Liver-depression And Spleen-deficiency With Electro-acupuncture Treatment Of Fixed-frequency

BackgroundWith the pressure increasing and the working rhythm accelerating, there will be more and more people to feel nervous, fatigue and depressed. With the addition of other factors such as financial difficulty and unemployment,the incidence of depression will increase further. With the development of the information society, competitions permeate to all spheres of life, from the business community to academia, from the adult world to the child world, depression has become the common concern around the world. The common treatment of western medicine is taking antidepressant medication at present. Howere, the long-term usage of antidepressant medication will appear serious side effect, and will affect people's daily life quality greatly. Acupuncture for its no side effect, few contraindications, wide suitability, safe operability, and it goes through several thousand years'history, has rich experience and assured curative effects.It gets more and more the favour of patients. Our initial trials found that Taichong-Sanyinjiao combination with a related electrical parameters got a great curative effect.ObjectivesThrough using the "Jie-yu Yi" made by Guangzhou Science and Technology Bureau to treat the depression of liver-depression and spleen-deficiency by selecting the fixed-frequency to stimulate Taichong-Sanyinjiao, compared with using the SSRI antidepressants to treat the depression of liver-depression and spleen-deficiency, to evaluate their curative effect differentiation. MethodsChoose 60 patients of liver-depression and spleen-deficiency depression which correspond Inclusive Criteria as the case of study, according to the ratio of 1:1 were randomly divided into Electro-acupuncture group and Western medicine group by the randomized controlled trial of clinical research methods. Electro-acupuncture group selects Sanyinjiao(double), Taichong(double), and connects to Jie-yu Yi with the connection mode of Sanyinjiao-Sanyinjiao and Taichong-Taichong, then chooses the fixed-frequency and current intensity which patients can stand, electrifies for 30 minutes, once a day, rests on Saturday and Sunday, treats altogether six weeks. According to the patients'condition, Western medicine group chooses one of the SSRI antidepressants, such as Fluoxetine, Paroxetine and Sertraline. Regular dose oral, treats altogether six weeks. Two groups of patients were evaluated the curative effect by HAMD and HAMA at 0 days before treatment, two weeks of treatment, four weeks of treatment and six weeks of treatment.Result1. Before treatment, two groups in general, HAMD and HAMA scores are no significant differece(P>0.05).2. Two weeks of treatment, four weeks of treatment and six weeks of treatment, compared with before treatment, there are significantly different (P<0.05) in two groups'scores of HAMD and HAMA.3. Two weeks of treatment, Electro-acupuncture group's deducted rates of HAMD and HAMA are higher than Western medicine group's, there are significant differences(P<0.05). But four weeks of treatment and six weeks of treatment, there are no significant differences(P>0.05).4. In the course of Electro-acupuncture group, there are no adverse events, such as halo pin, curved needle, broken needle, bleed and hematoma. In the course of Western medicine group, there are four patients appearing adverse reactions, such as dry mouth, constipation, lethargy, palpitations, insomnia, body tired, dizziness, headache, dysuria, sweating and orthostatic syncope.ConclusionElectro-acupuncture group and Western medicine group are the effective methods to treat the depression of liver-depression and spleen-deficiency. Both can improve the patients'symptoms and have similar curative' effect. Electro-acupuncture group is better than Western medicine group in short-term effect, and Electro-acupuncture group has higher security.
