Cervical spondylopathy is a kind of disease based on degenerative pathological changes. Mainly due to long-term cervical strain, hyperosteogeny, or disc herniation, ligament thickening, result in cervical myelon, nerve roots or vertebra artery are in compression, to emerge series dysfunction and clinical syndrome. Incidence of cervical spondylopathy has a tendency to continue to rise with the development of society and The accelerated tempo of life, and it has a strong bad impact on people's health and quality of life. Cervical spondylopathy can be mainly devided into radiculopathic type, vertebroarterial type, cervical sympathetic type and myelopathic type accoriding to different Pathogenesis. Incidence of radiculopathic type is the highest among the four categories, as a result, there is significant value to study on clinical treatment for this type. There is no specific treatment for cervical spondylopathy at present, treatment in western medicine including oral pain medication, operation, traction treatment and so forth, but the side effect of medicine, surgical risk and their like made the treatment effect confined, and acupuncture and moxibustion in traditional chinese medicine had been recognized by public that it has a good effect to treat cervical spondylopathy, for example, electric needle, fire needle, acupoint application and so on,but study about intradermal needle with traditional acupuncture treating cervical spondylopathy are not so much at present. Objective:to observe the clinical effect of intradermal needle with traditional acupuncture therapy on cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, and discuss its advantages, providing a effective, convenient and cheap method to the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.Method:use a randomized controlled trial of clinical research method, selecting 60 patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy meet the inclusion criteria and then randomly devided them into test group(intradermal needle with traditional acupuncture) and control group(traditional acupuncture) according to the ratio of 1:1. Record and observe the scores of symptoms, signs and functional status clinical score chart for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy(20 score method chart) and visual analogue scale(VAS) which to evaluate the efficacy before treatment, after one course of treatment and after two course of treatment and record the adverse events during the study.Use statistical software SPSS17.00 to analyze the data collected.Result:1. Before the treatment, the test group and control group in general,20 score method chart and VAS scores were no significant differences. (P>0.05)2. After the first and the second couse of treatment, in general, there was no significant difference in total effective rate between test group and contronl group (P>0.05), but cure rate for rest group was 26.67 % and 3.33% for control group after the second couse of treatment, test group was higher than control group in cure rate, there was a significant difference in cure rate between the two groups (P<0.05)3. After the first course of treatment, compared with before,20 score method chart scores were higher for both groups,VAS scores were lower for both groups, there were significant differences for both group in 20 score method chart scores compared respectively before and after the treatment(P<0.05),but there were no significant differences between test group and control group(P>0.05), for VAS scores, there were significant differences for test group(P<0.05), but no significant differences for control group(P>0.05), there were no significant differences between test group and control group(P>0.05).4. After the second course of treatment, compared with after the first course of treatment,20 score method chart scores were higher for both groups, VAS scores were lower for both groups, there were significant differences for both group compared respectively before and after the second course of treatment(P<0.05), and there were significant differences between test group and control group(P<0.05), the curative effect of test group was better than control group.5. In the course of the study, there were no adverse events such as fainting during acupuncture, curved needle, broken needle, hematoma, infections and so on. Conclusion:1. There were no significant differences between the two groups in aspects like age, sex, course of disease, conditions before treatment and so on, suggested that there were balanced distribution between the two groups,so they were comparable.2. Both traditional acupuncture treatment and intradermal needle with traditional acupuncture treatment have excellent clinical effect for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, both of them can improve symptoms and signs of patients.3. There were significant curative effect for both method to treat cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, and the clinical effect will get better as the time of treatment prolongs.4. There were no significant differences in total effective rate betweeen the two kinds of method to treat cervical spondylotic radiculopathy after the first course of treatment, but after the second course of treatment, intradermal needle with traditional acupuncture treatment has a higher cure rate than traditional acupuncture treatment in treating cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, suggested that intradermal needle with traditional acupuncture treatment has a better effect for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy in the long run.
