Objective:To explore the expression of galectin-7 and S100A9 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasis and cervical squamous carcinoma,also with its clinical significance.Methods:Immunohistochemical SP staining was used to detect the expression of galectin-7 and S100A9 in 243 cervical intraepithelial neoplasis and cervical squamous carcinoma.The association of clinical data with galectin-7 and S100A9 expression was examined.Results:The expression of galectin-7 and S100A9 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasis and cervical squamous carcinoma are significantly different (χ2=12.904 and 61.863, P<0.05).The separate positive rates of galectin-7 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasis and cervical squamous carcinoma are 56.7%; 41.9%; 32.0%; 27.3%; 25.0%, and statistic analysis found the significance between the nomal cervical tissues and cervical squamous carcinoma(χ2=11.291, P=0.001)after being compared with each other. The separate positive rates of S100A9 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasis and cervical squamous carcinoma are 80.0%,77.4%,48.0%,21.3%,20.2%, and statistic analysis found the significance between the nomal tissues and CINⅢ(χ2=17.515, P =0.000), the nomal cervical tissues and cervical squamous carcinoma (χ2=39.870, P=0.000),CINⅠand CINⅢ(χ2= 16.094, P=0.000), CINⅠand cervical squamous carcinoma (χ2=37.609, P=0.000),CINⅡand cervical squamous carcinoma (χ2=8.638, P=0.003) after being compared with each other. Expression of galectin-7 in cervical squamous carcinoma are associated with clinical stage (χ2=11.305, P=0.001),lymph node(χ2=9.459, P=0.002), but not with patient age (χ2=1.550, P >0.05),differntiation (χ2=5.551, P=0.050). Exprssion of galectin-7 also assiciated with survival rate of cervical squamous carcinoma patients(P <0.05). Expression of S100A9 in cervical squamous carcinoma are associated with clinical stage (χ2=6.261,P=0.012),lymph node(χ2= 13.031, P=0.000), but not with patient age (χ2=0.727, P >0.05),differntiation((χ2=1.361, P>0.05). A positive correlation was found between galectin-7 and S100A9 expression in cervical intraepithelial neoplasis and cervical squamous carcinoma (r=0.298, P =0.000)Conclusion:The expression of galectin-7 and S100A9 are related with tumourigenesis, clinical stage,lymph node of cervical squamous carcinoma, galectin-7 may even probablely associated with prognosis...
