Background:Painful heel syndrome is a common chronic disease, which is charactered by heel aseptic bone and sofe tissue inflammation and degeneration in the elderly. It is common in the age 50-60, males slightly more than females, affecting patients'lives and working, but there is no superior effective therapy for treating yet. There are many kinds of therapeutic methods, however, there are still some problems, such as long treatment, slow effect and the limitation of some therapeutic method. Chinese medicine is one of the most important conservative treatments for painful heel syndrome, with the advantage of less payment, less side effect, exact improvement, and easier acceptance. This study is to cure painful heel syndrome with the spray of Shuangbai San. Shuangbai San is the orthopedic experienced recipe of 1st affiliated hospital of TCM. There is some clinical and social sense on the application of Shuangbai San on painful heel syndrome and observing it's clinical effect.Objective:To cure painful heel syndrome with the application of Shuangbai San. System evaluation of the therapy will be received, applying clinical evidence for the therapeutic effect of Shuangbai San on painful heel syndrome. Method:There are 60 cases who met the requirement are selected from April 2010 to March 2011. All cases are randomly divided into three groups,20 cases respectively, treatment group which uses ibuprofen and Shuangbai San, observation group in which ibuprofen and diclofenac are applied and control group in which only ibuprofen is used. Three groups are compared from VAS scores, Maryland foot functional scores and therapeutic effect. All the data collected is analyzed by SPSS14.0 statistics software. P≤0.05 is regarded as the difference is statistic significant.Results:The difference between three groups in age,VAS scores, Maryland foot functional scores is not statistical significant before treatment. There are remarkable therapeutic differences in those groups after the course of treatment. There is significant difference on the VAS scores in 7 and 14 days after the treatment in the three groups, treatment group is obviously superior to observation group and control group. The difference has statistical significance (P<0.05). As to the Maryland foot functional scores, the excellent rates of treatment group, observation group and control group respectively is 90%,60%,55%. There is statistic significance (P≤0.05). The effect evaluation in 1 month after the treatment, the curable rates of treatment group, observation group and control group respectively is 50%,20%,10%, the effective rates respectively is 95%,90%,95%. There is statistic significance in the curable rates (P≤0.05), however, there is no statistic significance in the effective rates (P>0.05).Results:The three treatments are all effective to painful heel syndrome; but treatment group is obviously superior to the other two groups on pain alleviation and curable rates; there is no significant difference between observation group and control group; no side effects of Shuangbai San are founded, is a safe clinical application of effective treatment, with no stimulation of skin, no skin allergy.
