Reach Onthe Core Value Of Medical Students Under The Core Value Of Socialism

Since 30 years of reforming and opening up to the world, colleges and universities have become significant places for derivation of all kinds of thoughts, culture, and values, as the development of socialist modernization with Chinese Characteristics. Meanwhile, contemporary college students, whose mentality gradually mature, continue remodeling their values. Medical students, as a special group among college students, are also experiencing such changes.Our objective of this study is to lead medical students to establish scientific outlook on life and values, to horn their core values, to help them overcome the conflicts among different values, and so they will be competent for the historic mission of building a harmonious socialist society.Basing on the principle of integrating theory and practice, in this paper we conduct a survey to 480 students from 30 provinces and cities (autonomous regions) across the country,21 majors related to medicine, aging from 18 to 24. Meanwhile, this survey is condensed with the wisdom of medical experts and expertise of medical education. Besides, this paper probes the necessity and possibility of constructing the core values of the medical students, and has theoretical and practical thinking on constructing the core values of the medical students, and explores the connotation of the current core values of the medical students, which has not been decided yet.Constructing medical students' core values study enables the future mainstream groups engaging in medical career to cut through the complexity of the pluralistic value, and search for the ultimate meaning and value judgments. This not only is conductive to solve current problems facing medical and health services, promote reform and development of medical and health services, but also contributes to building a harmonious socialist society. Also it will help shape the image of medical staff in new eras, and adapt to the construction of the modern medical mode and medical social trends.To concise the core values of the medical students, first and foremost, it needs to clarify the characteristics of medical students who has no essential difference with the students of other majors but owns their particularity considering the professional characteristics. Secondly, we should make clear that medicine is the combination of natural science and the humanities, and that the ultimate goal of medical education is to cultivate professionals who possess the humanism spirit, a brilliant mind, the world outlook and the quality of diligence. Thirdly, medical students should not only possess such essential qualities as having a firm belief in the ideals, a noble character, a sound mind in a sound body, but also own the professional qualities as having deep humane attainments, the integrity of knowledge structure and the excellent practical skills, furthermore, they need to have the qualities of sustainable development as a strong research capability, good communication skill and team work spirit. Fourthly, we must analyze the reality of the current difficulties faced by medical students:their choice of major affected by the social environment, the enhancement of their humanities hindered by the heavy academic burden, the clinical practice affected by physician-patient crisis and the confusion caused by the employment pressure.On the unity of theory and practice, history and reality, this paper concise the core values that should be possessed with the medical students as the short expression of diligent at study, dedicated to medicine, good at thinking, health first; be bold in putting things into practice and blazing new trails, be good at communicating and kindhearted. The interpretation of its meaning is as follows:Firstly, we should dominate the core values of the medical students with the Marxist thought. The core values of the medical students aim at reflecting the the philosophical meaning of the Marxist thought, focus on guiding the clinical practice with the Marxist thought, and also put an emphasis on mirroring the medical students'capability of steering the direction of the development of medicine under current context in China.Secondly, we should guide the core values of the medical students with the firm beliefs. The core values of the medical students see the medical career and the humans'health as their driving force, and then they emphasize that dedication, responsibility and the mission play an important spiritual role in medical students' beliefs, furthermore, they focus on the dialectical unity of varied levels of the beliefs of in contemporary medical students.Thirdly, we ought to establish the core values in a progress, which should be from spontaneous to conscious. The core values of the medical students focus on their rich, emotional, and benefit-seeking spontaneity, and also emphasize the process of conscious learning, besides the core values express the recognition of personal consciousness and socially consciousness of the medical students during the vocational preparation.In summary, to construct the core values of medical students, we should hold firmly to instruct the medical students with the thought of three transformations of Marxism, and initiate the education of the mainstream ideological awareness; it is necessary to carry out the vocational ideal education so as to help medical students set the vocational goal which combines the self progress with the career development firmly; the spirit of the era and the spirit of the nations should be penetrated into the medical education and also stress on the innovative thinking with the goal of the sustainable development; in the process of conducting the core values, we should also conduct education on socialist concept of honor and disgrace and through the construction of the core values, the medical students are able to face the challenge of utilitarian value pursuit and hold on to the ethical foundation.
