The Clinical Observation On The Treatment Of Vascular Dementia By The Acupuncture Therapy Of Regulating Spirit And Benefiting Intelligence

Objective:Observe the effect of acupuncture therapy of Regulating spirit and benefiting intelligence compared with traditional acupuncture therapy through the evaluating of Activity of Daily Living (ADL), Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) and Mini Mental state examination (MMSE) before and after treatment, then explore the mechanism.Methods:Randomly divided the 50 cases met the inclusion criteria of VD into treatment group and control group,25 patients in the control group were treated with traditional acupuncture (Baihui point, Shenting point, Taiyang point, Wangu point,Neiguan point,Shenmen point,Daling point,Xuanzhong point, Dazhong point,Zhaohai point); the treatment group were treated with acupuncture of Regulating spirit and benefiting intelligence (emotion area,Yintang point,Use manipulation of small margin and fast twisting).The span of treatment was 6 weeks.Before and after treatment, all patients received ADL, CDR, MMSE and other scales, the results of scale score changes were analyzed statistically.Results:After treatment, the scale score changes are significant both in treatment group and control group, improvement in treatment group was better than the control group (P <0.01). The total effective rate in treatment group was 84%, while control group 68%(P <0.01).Conclusion:Both acupuncture therapy of Regulating spirit and benefiting intelligence and traditional acupuncture therapy are effective in patients with VD. Acupuncture therapy of Regulating spirit and benefiting intelligence is superior to traditional acupuncture therapy.
