BACKGROUND: Hypertension is a most frequent disease of the heart diseases. It is one of the most important risk factor of DHF. At present, according to the clinical data that are difficult to make DHF diagnosis. Therefore, exploring new method to diagnose DHF has important clinical significance. OPN was first described as sialoprotein in 1985 after isolation from bovine mineralized bone matrix. Since its isolation, OPN has been found to be expressed in various cell types and species with many physiologic and pathologic functions. In this review, we discuss OPN's role in DHF.AIMS: To study the connection between the diastolic heart failure in hypertensive patients and serum OPN level. Discusses the clinical value of serum OPN detection.METHODS: The study comprised 67 patients who were divided to 3 groups, 23 of them were with diastolic dysfunction(group 3), 22 hypertensive patients were group 2, and 22 patients who have no hypertension were group 1. The serumal FBE, TG, CH, OPN was determined. All the three groups had color echocardiographic.RESULTS: Serumal OPN levels in group 3 is obviously higher than that in group 1 and group 2, and the results are statistically significant. The level of serum OPN in diastolic heart failure patients have a positive correlativity with E/E' . The level of serum OPN in diastolic heart failure patient: NYHAâ…¡group
