The Expression And Significance Of MIF And MMP-9 In Lichen Planus

Objective: To detect the expression and relationship of MIF and MMP-9 in lichen planus.To investigate effect on the pathogenesis of lichen planus.Methods:Two-step Immunchistochemical technique and reverse transcriptase–polym erase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were used to test the expression of MIF and MMP-9 in 30 cases of lichen planus and 30 cases of normal skin.Results: MIF and MMP-9 were positive expression in lichen planus ,and negative or weakly positive expression in normal skin.The expressions of MIF and MMP-9 were significantly higher in lichen planus than those in the normal skin (P<0.05); there were positive correlations between the expression of MIF and MMP-9 in the cases of lichen planus (r=0.636, P<0.01).Conclusion: (1) MIF may be involved in the infiltration of inflammatory cells in lichen planus.(2)MMP-9 may play a role in damage of the basement membrane zone of the lichen planus.(3) The expression of MIF and MMP-9 in the lichen planus are positively correlated which shows that they may have the certain interaction in the damage of the basement membrane zone of lichen planus...
