Objective:This study was made to confirm that needling thenar acupoint has relieving asthma effect on bronchial asthma acute episode patients, and the impact of the length of retaining needle time on curative effect was also explored. Methods:A total of 60 cases of bronchial asthma acute episode patients were randomly divided into two groups; in test group,30 cases were treated with needling thenar acupoint, while another 30 cases in control group were treated with albuterol aerosol by spray and suction method. During the period of acute episode, the pulmonary function index FEV1, PEF, FEV1% and blood gas analysis index PaO2, PaCO2 of the patients in test group and control group were observed; in test group, after needling, these indexes at Omin,30min,60min were observed; in control group, these indexes were observed 5min after spray and suction, moreover, the symptomatic difference between groups was observed and the difference between the test group and control group was analyzed. Results:The indexes of pulmonary function and blood gas analysis and the symptom score in test group after needling at Omin and such indexes in control group were improved significantly, and the effect of control group was better than the effect of test group; the score of test group with needling for 30min was better than needling for Omin, and there was no significant difference with control group; in test group, there was no significant difference between needling for 60min and needling for 30min. The above results indicated that needling thenar acupoint had relieving asthma effect on bronchial asthma acute episode, which had immediate effect on the patients, and retaining the needle for 30min had the best curative effect.
