Though thorough research, the etiology, pathogenesis, methods of treatment, herbs and formulas of treating thirst were summarized from the routine methods and flexible methods aspects. This aimed to offer rules and enlightenments of thinking methods to people. Besides the contents mentioned above, the significance on differentiation on not feeling thirsty in the mouth, the contribution on the treatment on consumptive thirst of Zhang Zhongjing, the nursing based on syndrome differentiation were discussed.
