Clinical Analysis About Diagnosis And Treatment Of 52 Patients With Granulomatous Mastitis By Integrated Traditional Chinese And Western Medicine

Objective:This study was designed to discuss the clinical features,diagnosis,treatment and prognosis of granulomatous mastitis,accumulate the clinical data,treatment experiences and induct clinical work.Methods:Analyze retrospectively the clinical data of the patients with granulomatous mastitis who were treated in the affiliated hospital of Shandong university of Traditional Chinese Medicine from Feb,2000 to Feb,2010.Classify them using Excel table and make a statistic analysis using SPSS 13.0.Results:1. All the 52 patients were female, the ages distributed from 23 to 58 years,the mean age was 32.44+ 6.50 years.2.According to the clinical presentation, they were devided into three periods,a mass in the breast(28.85%), a abscess in the breast(40.38%), a skin fistula or sinus(30.77%).3.The misdiagnosis rate was 42.31% and mostly be misdiagnosed as plasma cell mastitis.4.49 patients have been followed up, the follow-up rate is 94.23%. The mean time is 22 months (range:0.5-84months).Recurrence rate is 16.33%.Conclusion: According to the clinical feature,they can be devided into three periods. Tissue biopsy remains the gold standard for diagnosis.Chinese and Western Integrative therapy is effective.The key is to control inflammation,limit the lesion and resect.Lump period is the optimal treatment period. The principle for choice of surgical approach is full excision of the lesion with taking appearance and life quality into account. While pay attention to the primary cause and do active treatment. It is necessary to follow up because of recurrence.
