Fanbaicao first contained in the Jiu huang ben cao,is the whole plant with root of Rosaceae Potentilla species. Compendium of Materia Medica Records,it has the effect of Heat, cooling blood, detoxification, bleeding and swelling. More for the treatment of Dysentery, malaria, carbuncle swollen and various bleeding.Because of its extract has specific pharmacological activity, people carried out extensive research on the chemical constituents of Potentilla discolor.The main chemical ingredients terpenoids,steroids, flavonoids and polyphenols, etc. Recent studies have reported that it has a hypoglycemic effect. The activity in more with the flavonoids.Acute toxicity test showed that mouse maximum tolerated dose of oral Discolor is 400g/kg. Showed that ethanol extract of Potentilla discolor alloxan diabetic mouse model has hypoglycemic effect of blood glucose, which can significantly reduce glucose tolerance in normal mice. But the aqueous extract of Potentilla discolor alloxan diabetic mouse model of blood glucose has no hypoglycemic effect.Adopt HPLC established determination of quercetin in Potentilla discolor Capsules.
