COPD can be defined as an irreversible air flow limitation disease which refers to chronic bronchitis and emphysema that gets worse over time. It is sitting on 4th position of cause of death in the world. The patient usually comes to a result of AECOPD due to the lower respiratory tract infection. The location of disease is not only exist in lungs, but also including effects outside lungs, and is a global difficulty in order make diagnosis and give treatment. On the selections of treatment, we not only considering short-term effects, but also long-term effects, which involving the extension of the remission period; to reduce the break-out times; to prolong the progress of the disease; to improve the life quality; to reduce social burden and the economical burden. In recent years, there are more and more clinical researches prove that the combination of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and WM (Western Medicine) treatment is far better than using WM treatment only. The current research tends to focus more on the effects of using Chinese herbal soup plus conventional treatment. Comparing with current research, there are less articles with adopting acupuncture therapy on AECOPD, and is more focusing on stationary phase. This research will put acupuncture therapy into the combined treatment, make observations on the effects and analyse the result by using SGRQ to verify effects of life quality,6MWT, MMRC of the AECOPD patients, hence fully analyse the factors that may risen in affecting results.Aim:To make research in evaluating life quality and effects of AECOPD patients adopting acupuncture therapy. Method:Select 40 AECOPD patients from Respiratory-ward in TCM of Guangdong Hospital, randomly separate them into with-acupuncture group and without-acupuncture group, with 20 patients per group. Prior to the treatment, make observations of each patient on smoking history, sex, BMI and disease severity, then compare before and after the treatment in oneself and between groups; analyse total effects and the MMRC; giving 6MWT after treatment; recording and evaluating the life quality by using SGRQ. Eventually, establish the database, run the database with SPSS17.0 in order to make statistical analysis.Result:The curative effect and MMRC before and after the treatment of with-acupuncture group and without-acupuncture group shows a significance difference (P<0.05); whereas the symptom evaluation of both groups in MMRC, 6MWT, SGRQ shows no significance (p>0.05). The evaluation of SGRQ's total score, activity score, and social psychological effects in with-acupuncture group is better than the without-acupuncture group, and it shows a statistical significance (P<0.05).Conclusions:Even though, there are no significant curative effects in adopting Acupuncture therapy on AECOPD, it still helps to improve the life quality, reducing relating symptoms, and is having advantages in improving social psychological effects. From this research, evaluation of SGRQ shows a statistical significance which provides evidence in adopting acupuncture therapy on AECPOD hereafter. Due to the abruptness, rapid and complication of the disease, it is best to adopt acupuncture therapy on AECOPD in order to raise the survival rate. This research is done only based on a small sample of collection, and is best to go deep into relating project. The observed indexes should be more diversity, from more aspects and should involve big samples to provide evidence of clinical significance on adopting acupuncture therapy for AECOP patients. Clinically, the research is worth to popularize.
