1. ObjectiveTo understand the distribution and the prevalence situation of the main behavior risk factors among the adults in Hangzhou, to set up a database of adults'behavior risk factors in Hangzhou, and to provide basic information for the establishment of public health strategies, and prevention for chronic disease.2. MethodsA method of multi-stage random sampling was used. Totally,1,000 residents from 4 counties or districts in Hangzhou aged 15 to 69 were interviewed with a structured questionnaire face to face. The contents of the interview included demographic characteristics, health status and life quality smoking, drinking, hypertension consciousness, physical exercises, and so on. The database was set up with EpiData3.0 software. After error checking and correction, SPSS1.5 statistical analysis was calculated with.3. Results3.1 Health state of the residentsAmong the residents who took the survey,52.69% male and 51.11% female thought they were in good state. Of the health state, there was no significant difference between the residents living in the city and those living in the country. The health state of the residents became worse as they were aging. The main reason of the residents'bad health state was chronic disease. 3.2 SmokingThe smoking rate of men was 65.29%, definitely higher than that of women (2.20%), and this difference was statistically significant. The study showed statistic difference between men and women on awareness about the risk of smoking--women also held much better awareness than men about the risk of smoking. When it came to passive smoking, the similar differences were found not only between people of different sexes, but also among people in different areas.3.3 DrinkingThe study found that in the city, the percentage of the population who drank every day was 12.04%, which was lower than that in the country (18.20%). Besides, men drank more frequently than women, no matter in the city or in the country.3.4 HypertensionThe survey showed 65.92% subjects thought that regular examine about blood pressure should be available for every citizen, and 69.80% patients who got hypertension took the medicine regularly according to the medical advice; moreover, some patients took other measures such as reasonable exercise and weight control as well to control hypertension.3.5 HyperlipidemiaThe survey suggested that 57.20% subjects thought regular examine about the volume of lipid in blood should be available for every citizen. So far, the residents took measures such as exercising, low-fat diet to control their lipid.3.6 ExerciseThe study showed that most people's daily work was physical activity on the low or mid-level. Only 28.27% residents took exercise in the past 30 days. The rate of residents who took exercises was higher in the city (45.95%) than that in the country (11.32%).4. Conclusion and SuggestionMany kinds of chronic diseases could be prevented by risk behaviors intervention. We could put emphases on the followings according to the local situation:1. Developing health education and health promotion actively and raising the theoretical level and skills of the professionals for chronic disease control and prevention.2. Further pushing the construction of residents'medical care system, improving the coverage rate of medical insurance and the quality of medical service.3. Taking a series of measures to do well in smoking control.4. Developing residents'morning exercise and evening exercise, organizing them to take regular physical exercises to build up their health.
