Risk Factors For Mortality Of Patients With Candidemia In Intensive Care Unit

Objective: To investigate risk factors for mortality of patients with candidemia in intensive unitMethods: A prospective clinical study of all patients with candidemia was undertaken in ICU of the first affiliated hospital of Guangxi Medical University between 2005 and 2009. T test, Fisher's Exact test and multivariate stepwise Logistic regression analysis were performed to risk factors associated with mortality.Results: 29 patients with candidemia occurred during the study period. The crude mortality was 58.6%. Analyed dying patients and non-dying patients with singal factor and multivariate stepwise logistic regression, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE)â…¡score(P=0.036, odds ratio,1.197, 95% confidence interval, 1.011~1.416) and members of prior antibiotics (P=0.031, odds ratio, 3.196, 95% confidence interval, 1.114~9.169)were significantly associated with mortality.Conclusions: Crude mortality remais high in ICU patients with candidemia and is overwhelmingly relatd to Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE)â…¡score and members of prior antibiotics.
