Objective: To study the association of pregnancy prognosis and Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA) blood flow parameters by using Color Doppler Ultrasonography in the late pregnancy period. Methods: Using Color Doppler Ultrasonography to examine fetal MCA flow in 120 fetuses whose gestational age range from 33 to 41 weeks in our hospital and related MCA hemodynamic parameters, including EDV,S/D,PI and RI, were measured and recorded; after the measurements above it is followed a close observation on all fetuses pregnancy prognosis. Finally the negotiated fetuses were split into two parts: poor prognosis group and good prognosis group. Results: Compare with the good group, MCA-EDV of the poor group increased significantly, MCA-PI,MCA-RI,MCA-S/D of the poor group decreased significantly, with the difference significant (P<0.001). Provided MCA-EDV>2SD,MCA-PI<1.4,MCA-RI<0.6,MCA-S/D<4.0 as abnormal condition , the sensitivity and specificity of predicting fetal poor prognosis's are respectively 35.00% and 98.33%,70.00% and 66.67%,15.00% and 98.33%,71.67% and 61.67%. Conclution: There is clinical value for using Color Doppler to monitor fetal MCA flow velocity as to predict fetal pregnancy prognosis. MCA-EDV flow waveforms decreasing significantly should be draw enough attention and observation as it may point to fetal hypoxia..
